House Burger Bar

Últimamente todo el mundo hace sus apuestas sobre cuál es la mejor hamburguesa de Madrid. Cada encuesta tiene una ganadora, pero mi apuesta mejor calidad precio es la que sirven en el House Burger Bar.
Por menos de 10 euros disfrutas de una fantástica hamburguesa acompañada de patatas caseras, ensalada de col y tu bebida favorita. Todo ello a ritmo de buen chill out.
Tiene 16 tipos de hamburguesas entre las que cabe destacar la Frenchburger (con queso brie fundido), la Onionburger (con aros de cebolla), la Gourmetburger (con foie de pato)
La parte positiva de estos bares que están fuera del circuito más "in" es que no es necesario reservar.

For less than 10 euros you enjoy a great homemade burger and chips, coleslaw and your favorite beverage. This well-paced chill out.
There are 16 types of hamburgers among which include the Frenchburg (with melted brie cheese), the Onionburger (with onion rings), the Gourmetburger (with duck foie gras).
The upside of these bars is that they are outside of the "cool circuit" and no reservation is needed.

Happy Day

Si hay un sitio de moda en Malasaña ese es Happy Day: dulces al más puro estilo Magnolia Bakery de Nueva York. Siéntete como en una película de los años 50: ¡la música y la decoración acompañan!
Baguels rellenos o no, muffins, cupcakes de mil sabores (cada día puedes descubrir algunos nuevos) y además tarta de zanahoria, cheescake, chocolate etc. Todo a precios más que asequibles: entre 1,50 y 3,00 euros. Además puedes pedir para llevar un café con leche espumada al más puro estilo Starbucks pero por sólo 1,20 euros.
La única pega es que sólo tiene una mesita y dos sillas, así que si vas en hora punta es muy probable que tu única opción sea el "take away". Desde aquí os propongo que pidáis un café con leche y os lo llevéis con vuestros dulces a la plaza del 2 de Mayo. Con buen tiempo es una gozada desayunar o merendar allí.

La Mantequería

¿Qué ocurre cuándo cierra una antigua mantequería y se abre en su lugar un bar? Existen dos opciones; que se arrase con lo anterior o que se intente mantener la esencia del local antiguo en la decoración. Este último caso es el de la Mantequería, un bar de tapas por la zona de Plaza de España.
Recomiendo este sitio para un café por la tarde y charlar tranquilamente con tu acompañante, tomar un vino o una caña después del trabajo y picar algo (impresionante el salmorejo, las tostas y quiches) y finalmente para el brunch de los domingos.
Su luz, las estanterías repletas de libros o adornos y su ambiente en general te harán sentirte como en tu propia casa.
Recuerda, si arriba no hay sitio, han habilitado la planta de abajo como salón - comedor.

I recommend this place for an afternoon coffee to talk quietly with your companion, take a wine or a beer after work and snack (typical "salmorejo", "tostas" and "quiches") and finally for the Sunday brunch.
Its light, shelves filled with books and ornaments and environment in general will make you fell at home.
Remember, if there is no seat above, they have enabled the basement as restaurant.

Almedro 13

Hace un tiempo en una guía Lonely Planet leí cómo le preguntaban a locales a qué sitio que se había convertido en turístico seguirían yendo. Si alguien me hiciera esa pregunta yo respondería que al Almendro 13. ¡Adoro sus roscas! Esta taberna andaluza basa su carta en algunos platos típicos del sur, los famosísimos huevos rotos y sus roscas de jamón, lomo, morcón, sobrasada, lacón etc. Es curiosos que para pedir lo tienes que hacer de dos veces. Primero pides la comida, el camarero te apunta en una lista y más tarde te llamará tocando una campanita. Luego pides las bebidas en otra barra. Las estrellas son el vino y la caña. No sirven refrescos ni claras (te tendrás que conformar con una Shandy). Otro tema a tener en cuenta es que se llena desde que abre, así que hay dos opciones: o vas a primera hora o esperas a que se vacíe una mesa. Un truco es bajar a la planta sótano y esperar en la zona intermedia de al lado de las escaleras. Hay un pequeño apoyo en el que se puede ir tomando algo y esperar a que alguien se levante de su mesa.
Si visitas la Latina por primera vez, no puedes irte sin probarlo.

Some time ago in a Lonely Planet guide I read how they asked to loccal people what local site that had become tourist would continue going. If someone ask me that question I will reply that the Almendro 13. I love their "roscas"!
This Andalusian tavern bases his manu in some southern dishes, their very famous broken eggs and their "roscas" of ham, loin, sausage, soppressata and so on.

Tiger

Imaginemos la perfecta fusión entre Ikea y Muji. Eso es Tiger. Tiene el mejor diseño danés a precios económicos. Puedes pasarte a dar una vuelta porque sí, a por un regalo, a comprar útiles para el baño (cepillo de dientes incluido), para la cocina, juguetes para los niños, complementos para la casa etc. etc. En definitiva cosas que siempre necesitas y otras que no sabías que las necesitabas hasta que las ves en la tienda. Como bajar a comprar a la tienda china de debajo de tu casa pero con más estilo.

You can go for a walk because you want to, for a gift, to buy bathroom's objets (toothbrush included), cookware, children's toys, accessories for the dwelling etc. Ultimately things we always need and others that you did not know you needed until you see them in the store. Is like going down to the chinese shop next door, but with more style.

Mercadillo de Majadahonda

Nadie puede negar que el centro de Madrid tiene mucho encanto. Sin embargo, algunas veces hay que alejarse del casco histórico para encontrar pequeñas joyas como el mercadillo de Majadahonda.
Se celebra los sábados y a él acude gente de todo Madrid en busca de ropa, abalorios, cuadros, menaje y fruta rica y barata. La zona se llena de gente que va a hacer su compra semanal mezclada con curiosos y algún que otro extranjero deseoso de conocer la España bizarra, todos moviéndose al son de las voces de los tenderos animando a comprar.
Hasta aquí la descripción encaja con la de cualquier otro mercadillo, pero lo que diferencia éste de los demás es su variedad de objetos, puestos y el generalizado buen precio. Además están los fruteros, que te dan la excusa ideal para hacer una visita y de paso dejar unos eurillos.
Si decides ir no esperes aparcar muy cerca, mejor aprovecha cualquier hueco que encuentres antes de acercarte. Y si te falla el GPS sigue el camino de la gente con las bolsas verdes.

Nobody can deny that the center of Madrid has much charm. However, sometimes you have to move away from Old Town to find little jewels like the flea market of Majadahonda.
It takes place on Saturday and Thuesday and people goes from around Madrid in search of clothes, trinkets, paintings, utensils and fruit rich and cheap. The area is full of people who will do their weekly shopping mixed with curious and foreigners wishing to know the Spanish bizarre, all moving to the sound of voices that urge shopkeepers to buy.
So far the description matches that of any other flea market, but what differentiates it from others is its variety of articles, stands and general good price. Then there are the fruit, which give you the ideal excuse for a visit and leave some money there. If you decide to go do not expect to park very close. And if you lack the GPS follows the path of people with green bags.

Nest, tienda de regalos

Cada vez es más difícil encontrar un sitio donde comprar regalos originales. De vez en cuando surgen sitios como Nest, pequeñas tiendas llenas de mil cosas que te llevarías a casa para regalar y regalarte.
En pleno barrio de Malasaña encontramos este espacio regentado por una chica inglesa que ha importado lo mejor de su país para que nosotros podamos disfrutarlo; desde tarjetas de felicitación de lo más divertido a ropita de bebés pasando por complementos hechos a mano y papeles para regalo o manualidades.
¿Nunca os ha pasado que veis un objeto que sabes que sería perfecto para una persona determinada? Sin duda, eso os pasará en Nest.
