Madrid es una ciudad muy grande, y a menudo no sabemos qué comer o a dónde ir a cenar. Desde un sencillo (que no simple) pincho de tortilla a cocina fusión del sudeste asiático, hay muchos lugares para elegir. Seguro que tú ya tienes tus preferidos, no queremos cambiar eso. Pero no podemos dejar de compartir contigo en este artículo (el primero de una serie de post) alguno de los nuestros. Empezamos por nuestros 5 favoritos para una comida rápida e informal en Madrid. Te advierto que encontrarás de todo, desde los clásicos más castizos a las últimas propuestas en llegar. ¿Empezamos?
- Pizzas. Aquí hay que diferenciar dos tipos de restaurantes: los especializados en pizza y los que se dedican también al resto de platos italianos. En este caso, te hablamos de los primeros. Nuestro favorito es un restaurante de mesas altas en la calle Hortaleza, Pizzaiolo, donde elabora una masa muuuy fina. Si prefieres masa gruesa, seguro que ya conoces Picsa, maestros de pizza argentina (ojo que hay más pizzerías en Argentina que en Italia, ahí dejo eso…).
- Tacos y margaritas. Para esto, nada mejor que ir a La Tomata. Más adelante os contaremos cuál es nuestro restaurante mejicano favorito para comer de manera algo más formal. Pero en lo que se refiere a comer con las manos tacos, quesadillas y demás (ojo que también tiene su truco para que no se escurra la salsa) acompañados con tequilas y margaritas, no se nos ocurre sitio mejor que este minúsculo local de la calle Cardenal Cisneros. Que la cocinera venga de una familia con mucha tradición culinaria y que su marido sea el antiguo maître de Punto MX da una idea del nivel que tienen. Y luego pruebas su comida y los hechos sustituyen a las ideas preconcebidas.
- Pescaíto frito. Sí, también en Madrid se puede disfrutar de buen pescaíto frito, y muy cerca de la Puerta del Sol. Los dueños de El Chiringuito del Señor Martín abrieron una pescadería gourmet en el cercano Mercado de San Miguel, y después de encontrar la mezcla de harinas y de aceites de oliva para hacer la mejor fritura, se lanzaron con este beach bar urbano donde traer un poquito de la costa al centro de la Península y disfrutar así de su producto fresco. Sangría o tinto de verano acompañan a salmorejo, croquetas o cucuruchos de boquerones. Así que en Madrid no hay playa ¿eh? vaya, vaya.
- Pincho de tortilla. Mira que nos gusta la tortilla de patata (incluso hace tiempo hicimos nuestra guía particular buscando la más rica de Madrid). Mira que son pocos ingredientes y la cantidad de variedades que pueden conseguirse: que si poco o muy cuajada, que si con o sin cebolla… Para nosotros, por encima de todas, está la tortilla de patatas del Sylkar, en el castizo barrio de Chamberí. No es la que mejor sale en la foto, pero es la que más nos gusta. Los premios y reseñas en prensa que atesoran en la puerta de entrada ya advierten que es una de las mejores tortillas de patata de Madrid. Con permiso de tu madre. Y de la mía.
Madrid is a big city, and often we don’t know what to eat or where to go to dinner. From a plain (not easy) Spanish omelette to Southeast Asian fusion cuisine, there’re many places to choose. Surely you already have your favorite, we don’t want to change that. But we cannot stop sharing with you this article (the first of several) some of that places. We start our 5 favorite for a quick and informal meal in Madrid. I warn you will find everything from the most traditional to the latest proposals. Shall we start?
- Pizzas. There’re two types of restaurants: specialized one’s in pizza and also those engaged in other Italian dishes. In this case, we speak of the first kind. Our favorite is a restaurant with tall tables at Hortaleza street, Pizzaiolo, which produces a sooo fine dough. If you prefer thick dough, sure you already know Picsa, pizza Argentina masters (note that in Argentina there are more pizzerias in Italy, I gave you the data…).
- Tacos and margaritas. Nothing better than going to La Tomata. Later we’ll tell you what is our favorite Mexican restaurant to eat in more formal way. In relation to eating the tacos, quesasillas an others with your hands, quesadillas and accompanied with tequilas and margaritas, we cannot think of better place that this tiny one of Cardinal Cisneros street. The cook comes from a family with great culinary tradition and that her husband is the former maitre of Punto MX. That gives an idea of the level they have. After that, you taste your food and facts replace preconceptions.
- Fried fish. Yes, also in Madrid you can enjoy good fried fish, and very close to Puerta del Sol. The owners of El Chiringuito del Señor Martín opened a gourmet fish market in the nearby Mercado de San Miguel, and after finding the flour mixture and olive oil for the best frying, launched this urban beach bar which brings a piece of the Spanish coast to the peninsula’s center to enjoy their fresh produt. Sangría or tinto de verano accompany gazpacho, croquettes or cones of anchovies. So in Madrid no beach huh?.
- Pincho de tortilla de patata. Look we like the Spanish omelette (even we made our private guide seeking the best one of Madrid). Very few ingredients and many varieties: if very little or curdle or not, with or without onion … For us, above all, is the Spanish omelett of Sylkar, in the traditional neighborhood of Chamberí. It isn’t the one with the best photo, but sure the first one of our ranking. Awards and press reviews that store in the front door warn that it’s one of the best Spanish omelettes in Madrid.
