This is precisely what the new owners of this legendary bakery of Madrid wanted to keep. Oriol Balaguer has preserved the most of the existing decor after step 3 generations of pastry chefs who have kept open this bakery since 1914.

Their dressers, columns , counters , lamps … all of them have seen many locals during his more than 100 years of history. The good thing is that now thanks to the renovation, you can leisurely breakfast or snack right there and the interior is much brighter .

The blue box with red lettering is recognizable from afar. All traditional sweets are kept , so those who were regulars before closing have nothing to fear. To the collection is added the new Duquesita Cake, with four textures of chocolate.

I struggled to choose , but eventually ordered one of their legendary chocolate palms. Very toast and a pastry crust , is not the cheapest but worth the money. Palls a little, but hey, we’ll do the bikini operation tomorrow…
