Sushita. Lovely and tasty japanese restaurant at Rubén Darío.

Every time I crossed José Abascal, glanced at the works of the Sushita last local Sushita at the corner with Miguel Ángel Street. I wanna be the first to taste and tell you as soon as possible my experience on the blog.

I have been overtaken by Juan, a colleague who works at Ruben Dario. He almost has a Master in Japanese restaurants and his word is the law about Asian cuisine. He recommended me iy strongly and, after visiting, many of those working people in the area fill it daily. There’s no doubt, it’s worthing.

Generally, when a “cute” place is opened, I have certain caution about the food. There’re restaurants that put so much effort to comply with trends in interior design, leaving a little aside the quality of the food. It isn’t the case of Sushita. They just opened their third in Madrid and it is no coincidence that is always full. It offers much more than a beautiful container. Juan had assured me but of course I had to check…

Indeed, the local is really cool. They have taken advantage of the large windows of the office building and the restaurant is full of light. The decor is fresh, with natural materials and light colors. There’re two areas ; one at street level and one on the mezzanine floor of the building. The first has a high ceiling and in it there’re several tables , a small bar to pick up your order and take it home and an open kitchen where you can see in action several sushi man. The space upstairs is more intimate and collected, perfect for confidences, celebrations with friends and business lunches.

I didn’t take much to convince two friends, so this time I could be accompanied, ordering more variety of dishes and tasting a little of everything. We started with hot dishes and ended with the cold. The first: Wakame salad (4,5€) with fresh wasabi mayonnaise (not one of those who usually put defrosted and little sweet); Sichuan noodles (8.9 €) with lots of flavor and a juicy duck; and Fried rice with duck (8.9 €), rice also very rich. And yes, we really like duck, almost as much as sushi.

The mains courses were decided before the starters, because we saw passing trays of sushi made us salivate. We ate Spicy tuna roll (8.9€), California special (8.9 € ), three Toro tuna nigiris (2.2 € each) and three of Butterfish (1.75 € the piece). Rolls are large and rice quality and its point. Both nigiris were prepared with a great fish, even though the tuna was really toro, the overall winner was the butterfish. Finish off the meal with a Matcha green tea ice cream (4,5€) with straciatella . The ice cream was not sweet and topping is almost anecdotal, so it was a good final party.

We ended very happy, with a full stomach and the feeling that we had eaten very well for not so much money, which in quality Japanese restaurants is a complicated matter. It has deservedly earned a place in our selection of Asian restaurants in Madrid for the freshness of its products and a so cool place.
