My 10 stores and Christmas markets in Madrid of 2016.

When these dates arrive, my friends always ask me the same thing: “Angel, tell me some new discovery of yours because I don’t know where buying a gift”. So I have written a list for them and for you.

I’m not going to fool you, I also occasionally turn to Amazon’s wishlist to get some item that takes time waiting for Santa. But what would be the winter evenings without staying with friends, snacking and shopping around the center of Madrid to hunt and catch a special gift?

They wouldn’t be the same. So, yes, this post is about street markets, Christmas pop-ups and new openings; all with the MCB’s touch. Grab paper and pencil or add this post to your favorites, we started.

R Diseño Shop

It’s a secret that is starting to spread like wildfire by Chamberí and all over Madrid: R Design Shop opens a physical store! At last one of the references of Nordic design in Spain has its own space where you can see first hand all their products of Scandinavian brands, from ceramic cactus and super-cute neon lights to solid wood tables, chests of drawers or lamps. Plus it’s your salvation if you’re looking for unique Christmas deco: your house will be like Pinterest’s ones!

I can only say good things about these two sisters, Mercedes and Elena. After a time of online sales, finally opened in mid-2016 its physical store near Alonso Martinez. In addition to triumphing very strongly with their handbags with iconic prints of their own travel photographs, they’re great. They already sell in more than twenty countries, but removed their entire store so that I could make a very special gift. From here I tell you: thank you very much “Zubis”!

Swinton & Grant

Within the Swinton & Grant name are two initiatives: the Swinton Gallery, which is a space of more than 200 m2 where artists from the most varied artistic disciplines exhibit, and Citizen Grant, a bookstore specializing in urban and avant-garde art, graphic novels, comics and fanzines. They also have a very good cappuccino to accompany your hours of work with their WiFi and is close to La Casa Encendida, another cultural space very top.

You know that Malasaña is one of those neighborhoods of Madrid where everything happens before, and was one of the places where the first concept store began to appear. They’re places where you can find a selection of products of everything we need: decoration, clothing, footwear or food. In the case of Rughara, and its Casa Quiroga space there’re from Mava Haze jewels to drinks like Club Mate; from Xperimental footwear to works of art by Yukiko Kitahara.

If you like the romantic and Parisian style, don’t miss this organized shop in rooms as if it were a house. A lot of the people who pass in front of its show window fall in love, but there’s much more. In every room you can find bags, shoes, clothes … even swimsuits. The price range is wide, so you’re sure to find something interesting for both girls and boys.
