Creme de la Creme. Mediterranean restaurant at Las Salesas.

The Mediterranean restaurant Creme de la Creme has achieved its place in the area of Las Salesas thanks to its cuisine with Mediterranean products, a pleasant and elegant ambience and impeccable staff.

It has a French bistro touch with other decoration trends such as the wallpaper patterned with palm trees, as we saw in Frida, and cages containing objects that may shock, as crockery, establishing a funny game because it’s painted with birds, similar to Salón des Fleurs.

It’s a small restaurant with few tables with its own personality each one of them. Small ones for two people and round for several diners, in slightly compartimentas areas with soft jazz music without any noise. The room staff slips between the tables, watching everything and unnoticed. The setting is superb, calm and elegant.

Daily menu isn’t extensive, but it’s not necessary. Two starters, two main courses and two desserts. This and the buzz of the locals means there are clients every day at all hours, beyond who sometimes eat at odd hours and are also well received thanks to its cuisine that does not stop at all day, like us.

The basis of the menu is purely Mediterranean, there’re no fused cooking with other parts of the world and other cultures, the culture of “eating well” is here only present. Meat, fish, vegetables and fruit, with some sweet course. All is simple and well prepared, with a very attractive presentation and the timming very successful.

This time, as we had signed a site that we were going to have a snack after, we chose the dishes we consider something lighter. Goat cheese salad, Gilt-head bream baked with mixed vegetables and Pear with raspeberry (they also had Chocolate brownie with vanilla ice-cream, but chose the pear to not to be said that we don’t eat the daily piece of fruit ;-) ). Goat cheese came to at the right moment, just finished cooking, making the mixture of hot cheese and fresh salad in the mouth perfect. The fish was just right and with the right touch of salt, without a single thorn and very juicy. Pear with raspberry is an original way to offer fruit for dessert, but in a very elaborate way and a very good taste.
An intimate, quiet, peaceful and tasteful, with a kitchen product, whith refined Mediterranean cooking make convenient booking and it’s becoming the favourite restaurant of many. Moreover, their brunch is in the top of Las Salesas, perfect for a morning shopping in the antique and design shops of the area.
