Pionero del brunch en Madrid, Café Oliver es un café con aires de bistro francés es un clásico a la hora de planificar un buen domingo por la mañana. Entre Chueca y el Paseo de la Castellana, en el centro de la zona de Alonso Martínez, es perfecto para combinar con una visita al cercano Museo del Romanticismo o simplemente para aplacar la resaca del día anterior y recargar fuerzas.
Café Oliver no es un sitio para intimidades, ni por lo cerca que están las mesas entre sí, ni por el trajín que se traen los camareros, y mucho menos por la cantidad de gente que se suele congregar. Sigue siendo muy popular, aún cuando han abierto ya muchos otros locales que ofrecen “almorzar” los fines de semana; como no admite reservas es importante ir con algo de antelación.
El brunch del Café Oliver no es tan caro como parece en un principio, ya que incluye bebidas, bollería y dos platos que son bastante abundantes. En concreto una bebida caliente (café, té o cola-cao), bollería francesa, panes con mantequilla y mermelada, zumo natural (recomendamos el de sandía), primer y segundo plato. Y por supuesto no hay que olvidarse del yogur con bídifus para que te suban las defensas. Uno de nosotros pidió Huevos Benedictine y Chesseburguer (de unos 250 gr.) con lo cual ese día casi ni cena. La otra comanda también incluyó una de Huevos Benedictine (les salen muy buenos) y una Ensalada Caesar de un tamaño suficiente para ser plato único.
Después de comer todo lo anterior, es obvio que sales de Café Oliver o con ganas de reposar con una buena siesta, o con ganas de volver paseando a casa y disfrutar callejeando de Madrid. Lo que sí es seguro es que saldrás satisfecho.

Brunch pioneer in Madrid, this coffee shop with the touch of classic French bistro is a classic place where planning a good Sunday morning. Among Chueca and Castellana, in the center of Alonso Martinez area, is perfect to combine with a visit to the nearby Museum of Romanticism or simply to soothe the hangover from the previous day and recharge energy.
Not a place for private conversations, not because of how close the tables together, or by the bustle that the waiters bring, much less by the amount of people who usually gather there. It remains very popular at the weekend, as no booking is allowed is important going a little before.
The brunch is not as expensive as it seems at first, because includes drinks, pastries and two main dishes that are quite abundant. In particular a hot drink (coffee, tea or cola-cao), French pastries, breads with butter and jam, fresh juice (we recommend the watermelon), first and second main dishes. After eating all of the above, it’ss obvious that out of there you want a good nap, or return home walking and enjoying Madrid. What is certain is that you’ll be full.
